'Scores on the Doors' is a scheme where food businesses are given a score to indicate the hygiene standards in their premises found during regular audits & inspections by local authority environmental health enforcement officers to check the food business is compliant with legal requirements.
The score is given a star award by the local authority to indicate the level of compliance based on the following factors:

- Structure and Cleaning
- Management and Control
A 5 star award indicates an ‘excellent’ level of compliance while a 1 star award indicates a poor level of compliance.
