Strawberries & Raspberries - Look out for a second crop from the southeren counties.
Blackberries - Nearing the end of their season but still around in September & early October. Ideal for a crumble.
Blueberries - Season starting to come to a close in September, cook them lightly for a fuller taste.
Black & Redcurrants - Stew gently, puree & strain to make a coulis for ice cream or eat as they are with a dash of sugar.
Pears - The first Williams shall be available by late September. Williams & Comice are good from October.
Clementine's & Satsuma's - Easy to peel & just coming into season from abroad during November.
Melon - Look out for Cantaloupe, Charentais, Galia, Honeydew & Watermelon varieties.
Apples - Enjoy the first dessert apples from August such as Cox's Orange Pippins, Bramley's & Worcester Pearmain. Bramley are ideal for pies & crumbles.
Plums - Victoria plums at their peak in September.
Damsons - A richer taste than plums & lovely for making jam, crumbles & tarts.
Hazelnuts - Sweeter & Fresher than at Christmas.
Walnuts - Crush for use in meringues.
Chestnuts - Ideal roasted.
